Once in a blue moon twice

Site-specific installation of three handsewn cyanotype flags
Apr 3 - May 16, 2021

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Austin, TX

At the start of 2021, I made cyanotype prints of everything I consumed—breakfast eggshells, onion skin, seltzer cans, photo books—the inventory expanded to everything I found (arguably) essential—objects that were purchased (christmas splurge dyson vacuum), disposed of (bulk avocado net, fragile mail fluff), admired (birthday flowers, my newly adopted Blueberry Willy, inland sea oats (native), palmate maple (invasive).

The things that carried me through my time in Texas were printed on cotton fabric, hand sewn, and hung on a pergola at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center ending my yearlong St. Elmo Arts fellowship with the University of Texas in Austin and the Wildflower Center.
